Avocado Toast

Today's Menu:

  • Avocado toast with watermelon radishes and tomatillo salsa on sunflower bread by Baker Miller Chi
  • Cherry hand pies
  • Bacon, egg, potato hand pies
  • Mixed fruit salad with mint

"What are these pink things?"
"It's a watermelon radish."
"What's different about that?"
"It looks like a watermelon when you cut it open."

*takes a few bites*

"This is too weird."

*tosses it away*

The bacon egg potato hand pies were gone first. Breakfast completely obliterated by 9 AM.

In contrast, the oatmeal yesterday lasted well past 10.

Good News

There was a dark period where breakfast every day was scrambled eggs, breakfast meat, oatmeal + toppings. The same hot breakfast for free every day, can you believe it?

But now we're back to different and unique breakfasts every day. Not a single egg white in sight. Phew.

Oatmeal

There are no complaints about oatmeal when it's served with caramel coated salted pretzels. Those are chocolate chips and sprinkles in the background. We've got rainbow sprinkles too!

Healthy Thursdays

About 1-2 times a week, we get "healthy" breakfast. The great thing about healthy breakfast is that no one likes it, yet it's the most common feedback when they send out surveys about what we want for food.

"Give us healthier options!" - aspirational survey respondents
"Ew, we hate healthy food!" - actual breakfast eaters

Today's healthy menu included:
- Grapefruit brulee (served with maraschino cherries on top)
- Lowfat cottage cheese
- "Fluffy" egg whites with and without cheese (let's be clear, egg whites can never be fluffy on their own)
- Pork sausage
- Turkey sausage

You can always tell when it's healthy day because most of breakfast is left at 11 AM. Also, people look at the breakfast, disappear, and then reappear with McDonald's.

The only one benefitting from this is me, saving cottage cheese and greek yogurt from their fate of getting thrown away otherwise. I'm there for you, dairy.
